Iran and Moomintrolls

For some reason the current crisis in Iran (beautifully and harrowingly recounted in this article by Robert Fisk - http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/fisk/robert-fisk-irans-day-of-destiny-1706010.html) ( Read more... )

I *adore* the painted planes! Such a pity that Tove Janssen wasn't also of Dutch extraction, otherwise I might one day have been in a position to photograph my initials alongside an actual Moomin... I suspect that the Hemulen, with his fetching dress, might not have been thought so suitable by Finnair (and imagine if they were to implement a co-ordinating dress-code... :))

I'm sure you'll be pleased to learn that the bookshop currently has the entire series of Moomin books, and they're even on display and being recommended to as many folk as possible (one day, the management will also see sense and put us all on commission!)

Yay! So great to see you back here Bethia. I often think unpainted planes are a waste of canvas, unfortunately most of the painted planes in Australia don't have any pictures as good as these and are more content with pictures of skinny girls holding flags with the names of planes like Saucy Jack or Belle of the Air.

Well done for recommending those Moomin books. I'd put you on commission in a flash! Wondrous creations they are.

Those planes are beautiful - and so not-Finnish! I'd love to fly between Tokyo and Helsinki one day...

I finally have internet back - and I wish I'd read this before our semi-breakfast Friday. The situation in Iran is crappy - but inspiring that they're FIGHTING for a non-demented-fascist government - unlike Australia, America, and the U.K.

Ahmadinejad is just a slimy, idiotic scumbag (a la GWBush) under the influence of the truly evil Shah.

It's sad, but I believe the only solution to this crisis is to despatch Ian Thorpe for a personal meeting with the Shah - it's sure to be productive - if the Thorpedo is willing to conceal an incendiary device - it's not like he doesn't know how - and we already know he's good at deception. Commence des feux d'artifices!

And I really have to see PERSEPOLIS.
