A Year in Review

Mike asked me this morning if I’m happy about my sophomore year. In all honesty, the question took me aback because I had never really considered it before. I've found this year that the more we move away from ourselves into the world and into societies, both American and foreign, the harder and harder internal peace becomes. It is easy to be happy in a room with no outside world around it, you merely must becomes content with the walls and things inside your room. But when 6 billion people stand outside your door, each with their own influence and presence in the world, in one way or another everyone one of them is effecting the way we live, disturbing our inner peace in their own struggle to find inner peace. Especially in the situation I think you and I both find ourselves sometimes- overwhelmed by the situation and the problems we try to deal with, searching for correct problems, perhaps even finding God or some greater presence in our work that further challenges us to another level ( ... )

Your sophomore year sounds like my freshman year....all in all, I was pretty happy and in love with Villanova, but there were still some lonely and sad times, as well (though I never even considered talking to someone about it, so kudos to you).
I'm very glad that I met you through Mike this summer and I'm grateful for all the fun times we had in 311 this year. Have a great summer. I hope you have a great time in Ireland. Keep in touch!
