as far as losing weight goes, the walking is great, but you gotta make sure you're changing your eating habits, too. it was sad, but i had to give up pizza and potatoes for a while, my two favorite foods. I gave up alot of stuff and have reduced my intake quite a bit. That, and playing basketball and jogging have pretty much done it for me, i'm down 45 so far.
