If you want them to be in your hand luggage you should rinse the paraffin out of the poi with water [LOTS of water] to be absolutely sure. Takes a while for them to dry out when you're ready to use them (stick them in bags until then) but they'll have absolutely no chance of being twitchy about flammables on the plane. Or you could just not bother ;)
