There's probably something significant in calling that a "straight" lie. There are plenty of words without a sexual connotation you could have used. Why straight? Why not outright? Blatant? Obvious? (If I weren't so sleepy, I'd say you were overcompensating, and I'd do it in a terribly witty fashion. Pretend I've been witty and we'll all be happy.) :P
