Magic Mouse - First impressions

Jan 30, 2010 08:10

Since I received my Apple Magic Mouse right now, I'm gonna be marking down my impressions on it for my hardware/software review in a few works over at MacStories.

Since I'm on a (slightly older) MacBook, I've been using a trackpad which supported one-finger click, two-finger secondary (right) click, and two finger horizontal and vertical scroll. I'm pretty accustomed to having those functions right at my fingertips while I'm typing. It's equivalent to a built-in Mighty Mouse.

Using my Magic Mouse means I have to move my hand off my keyboard, which I'm unaccustomed to. What's my moto? In the four or five hours since I unboxed it, I've found that I use the Magic Mouse for:
* heavy click-browsing
* inertial scroll
* natural right-clicking motion

but I still use my trackpad for:
* casual clicking while typing (like highlighting words and putting my typing cursor somewhere)

I'll explore the multitouch gestures this weekend.
