[ACTION]

[So Barnaby recently decided that since he's got himself a roommate, he should probably learn how to cook. He bought recipe books the other day, though for some reason, he's attracted to the fried rice recipes (as well as beef stroganoff and cabbage rolls), and just yesterday got the needed ingredients ( Read more... )

[Ken's just coming back to the flat, having gone for a (careful) exploration of the neighborhood, hoping something might jog his memory against all odds.

And um. Well.

He'll be rushing into the kitchen now.]

Are you all right?

[Oh, great, the last person he wants to see right now. The kitchen is a mess, really, besides the rather conspicuous hole there's a broken jar and fried rice all over the place. This is so embarrassing.

But hey, someone needs to pick up the shreds of his dignity, so he nods, taking care not to move so much for fear of repeating what happened again.]

I'm fine. I just remembered something at the wrong time.

[Ken's not sure whether he should approach Barnaby while he's glowing like that, but he will start looking for something with which to clean up the jar & rice. He's more relieved you're okay than upset about the mess.]

Is remembering - always that violent?

Not really. Apparently, it only happens when you've remembered something particularly powerful.

[He moves to pick up a few pieces of the broken jar and its contents, taking care not to put too much pressure on anything or to cut himself on the sharper shards.]

I see...

[Remembering looks a little formidable, then. But he'll locate a broom and start sweeping up any parts of the mess that fell to the floor.]

It's - good you retrieved some memories, though. Congratulations.

Thank you.

[Sigh. Well, that's a waste of good fried rice.]

[Ken keeps sweeping jar-and-rice shrapnel into a little pile.

There's an awkward pause before he speaks.]

Ah. The wall...?

Will be repaired as soon as I raise enough money for it. In the meantime, I need something to cover it up with.

[He was more curious about the specifics, but he understands if Barnaby'd rather not discuss that.]

All right.

[Pile accumulated, he'll start opening kitchen drawers, looking for something they can use. A dishtowel? What do people use on broken buildings....It's no good. He doesn't know. Is covering the hole the only point, or do they need something that'll insulate...?]

[Meanwhile, he's trudged off to look for anything in the flat that could cover up a rather conspicuous hole, taking care not to accidentally bump into anything as he's glowing blue.

A few minutes later, he sighs in relief as the blue glow fades, then moves to take off the bed coverings. This is going to be a waste, but he needs to cover up that hole pronto. Besides, he can always buy some more.]

[Ken is still looking in the kitchen for something to cover the hole, but he has a feeling nothing here is going to cut it.]

For construction, isn't some sort of sheeting used? It shouldn't be too expensive.

[He'll sweep the mess on the floor into a dustpan since he struck out on hole-covering.]
