*Getting the Justice League up and running can only be done for so many hours in a day, and eventually he has to come home and remember what it is he's been blocking out for a while.
The trouble with regaining memories like this, really, is that it makes the event just as raw and unpleasant as it was when it actually happened. It may be a regain, but for an amnesiac it feels just like making a new memory. Her death happened years ago, but that memory had brought it back to him like it had just happened that night. And, in turn, it had brought back the urge to mourn. Perhaps that was why he had just... lost interest in returning home. He didn't want to face that pain again. A lonely house without her, and only this ring he's staring at to remember her by.
He puts his head down on the table, swirling a shot of whiskey with an odd sort of fascination, looking at the small bits and pieces of Christmas he's put up around the place. What a holiday, huh?
Except, well, Christmas has always been associated with miracles. Sometimes it's as major as the son of God being born. And sometimes, just sometimes, it's as minor as a near-middle-aged superhero, in the process of dozing off in a misery of alcohol, having just the one quick flash he needs.
The flash... of a child in his arms.
His eyes shoot open. He blinks as things sink in. And then... a slow chuckle... slowly turning into a laugh of triumph.
And when he downs that shot, it's not misery anymore -- it's celebration.*

A DAUGHTER! Hey everybody! I just remembered! I have a daughter! Her name's Kaede, and she's the sweetest, most wonderful little girl ever! Well, I'm sure she is, anyway, since she's my daughter, but I can't remember everything yet. I guess that just means I gotta try and remember more stuff, right? Ah, if I only had a photo, I'd show her off! Isn't that a great memory?
((OOC: 1% on Kaede. It's about damn time.))
