I for one am always sort of sad when Sora gets scapegoated as the oblivious happy instrument of murder. I mean, my involvement with the KH fandom is equivalent of me poking it with a very long stick, but it always seems overly digging and cruel when I see the spiels bastardizing Sora's attacks on Org XIII. He's a cute kid and a Disney hero :( His level of involvement left him partially ignorant, but he doesn't attack for nothing. BAD GUYS USING BAD METHODS

ANYWAY NICE ESSAY :|bb A++ let's thread again when my schedule isn't being hilarious

S-sob me too ;; I LOVE SORA OKAY, that's partly why it was so easy for Roxas to top me into apping him. :( And I like the Organization a lot, and I think they were painted unfairly a lot of the time! But ... I don't think it's Sora's fault; he had no reason to think the people he looked up to were lying to him, and every time he sees the Nobodies, they're up to no good. WHAT IS HE SUPPOSED TO THINK. He was willing to fight with and give Axel the benefit of the doubt, even though he kidnapped Kairi and everything. :(

YYYYYY I WANT TO \o/

Yah exactly o/ It's not like. Uh. Kharg. Where every time he sees Deimos they are UP TO NO GOOD so he HAET THEM FOREVER, but then after seeing them be normal and conscious and "good" and Deep People With Good Thoughts And Families, he. . . STILL HAET THEM FOREVER. Sora's not like that lol. MY FOOLISH BROTHER

Y-yeahhhh. I think a lot of people get stuck on the fact that Sora is cheerful and plucky and kind of enthusiastically dumb, and forget that he can and does think for himself at times. :( He can be a brat (see also: him and Gokudera), but he's not some deliberately cruel or destroying Nobodies because they're Nobodies, he's doing it because he was told they're bad, and all he really SEES is them doing bad things. :\

OKAY \o/ LET'S BE FRIENDS, CLOUD \o/

KH fandom is somehow specifically designed to cause as much pain to the human soul as possible. And I will never get the Nobodies Are The Good Guys!!1 argument. Extremely sympathetic villains who are mostly only evil for the methods they use, yes. Good guys, no.

I could essay here about how the game set up all these great themes of condemning people for their actions and not by what they were and then completely and utterly reneged on that at the end but I think it would be redundant. ;;

Y-yeah, I had so totally noticed that. :\ I mean, I can argue that the Nobodies are possibly antiheroes (there is sheer irony in this), but not good guys by a long shot. They had some noble intentions, but they were doing it very badly if they really meant to make Sora sympathize and work with them. I could tl;dr about how fandom morals are kind of tilted anyway, due to fictional, but within the logic of the canon itself, there is no reason for Sora to believe he's being lied to until specific Nobodies begin breaking the mold of what he expects of them. :\

SORA IS A GOOD KID, even if he's dumb. Sob. ;;b

Re: Boxy, and I like to think of it... you know IN KIDS STORIES THE VILLAIN OFTEN DIES. WHY, BECAUSE EVIL PEOPLE DO. IDK ultimate death endings happen more in kids stuff. (Neil Gaiman told me so it must be right)

I would jump off a cliff if Neil Gaiman told me to.

Well, not really, but at least on this nick I can glide.

--more seriously, yeah, it's like. Kingdom Hearts has a grittier edge because of the Square influence, but to me it is, and has always been, something that takes more after the Disney parent, where you might have some shades of gray, but it's mostly bright colors and whimsy. :(b

...You know I shouldn't be terribly surprised that KH fandom hates Sora for killing the Nobodies. But. O fandom.
