I was informed today that in addition to being among the masterminds behind the 4e revisions to demons and devils ( http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=906386 ), he was also the author of the only Forgotten Realms novel I ever tried to read, and it was so bad I couldn't even finish it. Parts were worse than even NeverwinterNights.
I suppose I would mention that bad fiction doesn't necessarily translate to bad game design. The Privateer Press guys have put some truely terrible fiction into the Warmachine sourcebooks, but I still find the Iron Kingdoms backround to be fantastic.
That said, I find it sort of odd that the archdevils are going to be mentioned this much in the core rules. I hope this isn't a sign that too many classic monsters will be cut out.
Given that the Fiendish Codex series only came out last year (less than 12 months for Tyrants of the Nine Hells), while 4E design was in full swing, I can only hope that they've made some effort for the changes in fluff to flow naturally.
Anyway, there's still Keith Baker. He designed Eberron, and therefore is awesome.
