Response to Nakeisha's Drabbles
I was so moved and inspired by Nakeisha's four drabbles, that I simply HAD to finish the story. I hope you don't mind, Sweetie. You all know what a sucker I am for a happy ending.
So here is my drabble in response to hers.
The Inevitable
He awoke, aware that he was being watched. Old habits die hard, so he opened his eyes slowly, ready to spring into action. It was Napoleon, just watching him sleep, with that tender look in his eyes.
All the other times he had merely looked back.
All the other time he had used some sarcastic remark to disentangle himself from the situation.
All the other times he had resisted the inevitable.
This time, before he could restrain himself, he said it out loud, “I love you.”
Napoleon didn’t have to say it back. His answering smile was worth the effort.
