It had been a couple weeks since they had gone to Ariadne's parent's for Thanksgiving, something that had worked out even better than she ever could have imagined, and they'd settled back into Paris and their more normal routine. They were, however, keeping busy looking at condos and Arthur was secretively planning their Christmas island getaway,

Arthur looked up from his eggs and toast when she said his name. “I was wondering if you wanted to stop by Cartier or Tiffany’s to look at engagement rings.” He’d been thinking about it and knew that he should pick one out by himself based on what she would like, but he thought it might be better to include her. Just to be on the safe side.

She couldn't help but smile into her coffee mug at that.

"Yeah? You realize you probably know way more about engagement rings than I do," she pointed out. And she trusted his taste and the amount he knew her taste as well. "But I guess it would be nice to see what's out there. I don't think I've ever been in either of those stores."

She wasn't much for jewelry and until recently she'd never had the means to buy anything there even if she had wanted.

He returned the smile as he sipped his orange juice. “I know. It doesn’t matter about the carats or whether it’s gold or platinum to me. I just want you to have a ring that you’ll like.”

"I just want a ring that shows I'm yours," she said. "And, well, is a little sparkly too."

Although she'd probably tend to lean toward something that was more unique than traditional.
