so... little maddie is still missing. it's being covered on Portuguese tv outrageously much. like, an hour of the news (the news there is very long) dedicated to her, interviewing everything from guests at the hotel to a local tree. seriously ( Read more... )

maybe i just never caught the rest of it in the news... but when she went missing, they made it sound like her parents left her in the hotel room asleep while they went out to eat... was there a sitter? i ask because i've never seen anything else about it...

and i agree. it's highly unnecessary to be making a tour about the world... i mean, it's coming off as "oh well, our kid got kidnapped, how about we take a vacation tour around the world pleading our case."

just my two cents! =p

yes what you heard is true.

They left the girl together with her younger brother and sister in their hotel bedroom, with the windows/door locked while they went out to have dinner at the hotel's restaurant. There was no sitter and i'm not even sure there was a babyphone. They said that they went to check every 30 minutes or so and one time she was gone. I don't know it's all weird. First they said that the window was forced, but police denied that.

The whole thing is so silly. It's unbelievably sad (and stupid of the parents), but.. really? hour long news coverage? children are dying by the thousands in other parts of the world, and this is what they chose to focus on? someone, i don't think this would be the case if she wasn't a cute little white kid who went missing on holiday.

But just think, what if it was your kid. You would want to do anything and everything you could.

I have had the same email come to me at work by two entirely different people about her, so it's definately circulating well.
