Definitely fewer penguins, but there was a wonderful attack of rocket launcher fic. I have a feelingbeer-good-foamy was implicated, which will not wholly astonish you. Sadly, I don't seem to have any links.

It was full of not so much double as multiple entendres.

Hee! Oh yes, good times. I wrote one or two for the rocket launcher fic ( Mission Implants). I also remember the "Buffy kills a demon with a kitchen utensil" spree.

I think there was a run of Mr. Gordo fic for awhile. And after "Smile Time," there was a flurry of Puppet Angel fic. Possibly there may have been Mr. Gordo/Puppet Angel slash.

There was also the Fairy Spike craze. Sadly, most of those stories were so earnest and poorly written that they were funny for all the wrong reasons.

Fandom's FRAPs are beautiful things indeed.

I seem to recall a rash of "Where did Olaf the Troll go" fics as well, though that may mostly have been speakr2customrs.
