"Yes you are correct. One is enough... for tonight."
The words weren't meant for me.
For the first moment in an achingly endless series of them, the words weren't meant for me. But somewhere inside me I sort of wished they were. So that Illyria could keep trying to tear me down, so that I could continue to fight through it and find some way to

"And that's my clue to give chase." I said to the group at large, and went after Fred as she headed for the garden. Somehow, I don't think she'd be easily comforted, but it's reflex.
"Fred?" I said once I got out there, and saw what looked like some deep thinking on her end. "Forgive the interruption princess..."
I went over to where she was, and waited before taking a seat down next to her, just incase I wasn't wanted there. "Can I ask what happened?"

I stayed where I was, the cold stone of the bench seeping inside me as I pulled my legs up underneath me and wrapped my arms tight about my chest. There wasn't a nod or a smile, anything other than what I did for me, and it didn't even register for me to feel badly about that.
"Forgive the interruption princess..."
"You're not," I whispered. Because there truely wasn't. I hadn't found anything in my own thoughts that remotely made sense...just the hopelessly flawed logic that Illyria had so harshly pointed out. So no thoughts...or anything else to disrupt. Has anything felt right since we came back...anything at all.
A touch? Maybe a smile or two? But that isn't enough to live from. To find the life in the lives we were supposed to be rebuilding.
"Can I ask what happened?"
"I know...everything," I said, knowing Lorne would undertand what I meant. "Illyria told me. All of it."
What had been a statement for Wesley became a question for Lorne.
"Why didn't anyone tell me?"
Anyone but her.

What is she talking about?
... Oh.
I sighed. Figures Illyria would have made her exit with a nice little parting blow to Fred, I didn't expect those two to get along that much under the circumstances, if at all. There was bound to be a blowout, I just didn't think it'd go this way, with what she did to Chuck. Who knows what came out of that mouth to our poor Fred's ears.
"Kitten..." I sighed. "It's not what you think." Or at least, what I'm guessing she's thinking. "He didn't know what he was doing, none of us knew what was happening until the final act."
I looked at her, trying to get a good reading, but I was getting a lot of emptiness and maybe just a smidge of uncertainty about it all. I can't say I blame her too much, everyone seems to be a little 'What's it all about?' at the moment.
"I don't know what she told you, but it hit everyone hard."
