For better or for worse, $60 is about the most I'm willing to spend on a pen. I've had some nice Parkers in that price range, but I may forever wonder about the $200 ones. Aside from the obvious lack of portability, I prefer dip pens, really. They draw finer lines, they let me play with more inks, and I enjoy the periodicity line weight in their writing. I suppose if I were really obsessed, I could have a pen for each ink I own, but I reserve that insanity for mechanical pencils.

I've never been too fond of dip pens. I like them in theory, but in practice, I'm just not artistic enough to do anything legible with them. I'm not too worried about fine lines though - I'm probably looking for something in a medium nib anyhow.
I've been checking out the inks at pendamonium.com and there are some really beautiful ones. Their Legal Lapis is just a gorgeous colour, as is the Eternal Brown.
