I’m desperately curious about any opinions on the Angel/Wesley interaction in After the Fall (aka season 6). There are a few images of A/W scenes from it behind the cut, if anyone’s interested.

The fact that 1) They can’t have any physical contact whatsoever, and 2) there are no actors to have such amazing chemistry make it kind of ironic and ( Read more... )

I'm pretty new to this fandom. I Love Angel/Wesley and Wes is my favorite character. I haven't read After the Fall yet. Is it worth reading?

I know that Wes is W&H's liaison and that he's incorporeal. Is it explained why he's incorporeal when Lilah wasn't? Is it a punishment for his role in bringing down the Circle?

fractal_bat covered it, but I'll throw in my opinion too: I definitely think it’s worth reading, both as a continuation and for Angel + Wesley interaction. Some of the moments are small, but they’re there like crazy once you start looking for them!

And, yeah, the incorporeal state is a punishment (including the return to the suit and glasses). I can’t remember if it actually said that in there or if the writer had to explain it in the notes.

The goodbye scene used to be my favorite (for the faux touching and the callback to the beginning, but also because it shows them having gotten to a point where they can actually give each other an open and expressive goodbye through words while still being in-character), but I think I’ve changed to that last scan taking its place for exactly the reasons you’ve said. Especially when you add in the context (not obvious just from that one pic) of how badly he wants to move on and find Fred and the fact that him and Angel aren’t exactly getting along, it’s even more meaningful how high he places Angel’s wellbeing (and I agree it was the emotional state, rather than the physical one, he was concerned about).

I think it would force Angel into admitting, at least to himself, that he wants to be touching Wes.I love the idea of not!touching angst, but I hadn’t thought about it in those terms. That makes the time period even more appealing and full of potential ( ... )

I just want to thank you for this - I've been very curious about what happens to them in the comics but haven't been able to get hold of them.

Is the story continuing?
