So livejournal is basically dead. Something so much more intellectual than facebook. You needed to create something well enough written that someone else actually wants to take their own time to stop what they are doing in their lives to read. Facebook just does it all for you, no thought needed, just basic stupidity and knowledge on how to click ( Read more... )

Ya'know there's other things on the Internet too. Join a discussion group on a topic you find interesting, read articles, read blogs, or maybe download a book.

It's what I do when I'm not facebook/msn/livejournal.

yeah I do that too but I can never find the book I want to read on the internet...
I mean the internet is a great source of knowledge to learn from and find anything you want that's interesting..but I'm talking about the way we seem to destroy the meaning to everything that's being said, or what's not being said because the meaning wasn't able to be found. People need to look to find what they lose while messaging on msn or facebook messages. You do lose a lot, compared to having the ability to explain and have reason and understanding to everything that you want to say to someone, which people always disregard while trying to make things shorter and more to the point in messaging. It will cause complications in many people who will never be able to truely comprehend what's behind the language, to look past the words and understand what it is that person is really trying to say.

Seriously, find a topic you like and read a book on it. Once you've done that then look online for more information.

May I suggest you read "The Tipping Point"? There's a plethora of people discussing the topic now on millions of blogs. But, none of it will make sense unless you've read the book.

Another good idea is to find a topic you like and type it on wiki something you don't really know a lot about yet but wish to. From there keep opening links from the original page that also interest you. It actually gets to be quite interesting and definitely factual.

Yo BEEYOTCH
Wazzzzzzup? I <3 U
No I'm just kidding. After reading your post I know exactly what you're talking about. I understand and have been thinking about that too. I miss the old days of lj (the one's I wasn't even involved in that made me get one in the first place). Now no one even writes in here very much and its just to post a youtube. I know about one girl who actually writes about her life and feelings. She posts pretty often. You and I have said this a million times write excellent posts but they are very occasional. I write in this LJ when I'm drunk and rarely anything important. I have my own LJ where I write stuff I think about and stuff that is important to me but I wouldn't want to bore anyone with that. Not when we can make a post with a video and a sarcastic remark to go along with it. Society is changing and there is almost no way to stop it except within yourself.
We need to talk soon. And not over msn or text or something stupid. I miss our good talks. I have no idea what's even going on in your life anymore.

well at least you get what I was trying to put across here. I felt for a while that I wrote this whole long thing and it was something I feel strongly about and I thought everyone was not understanding what I was really trying to say. It's got nothing to do about wanting to know more about anything or wanting to find things on the internet that are more in depth.
It's all about what's behind the words.
And we should hang out soon

I'm with you on this one. We have so many new and amazing ways to communicate and often we use it to say... nothing.
