Post-communism does weird things to my brain...

I had a surreal moment yesterday when I realized that I am on the verge of being a real person; paying electric bills and car insurance, taking vacation time to see my family, picking up individual pre-made Whole Foods salad for dinner. i actually watched a documentary about the cheap drink and prostitution-type tourism all over eastern europe. it's just a testament to how communism degrades the human spirit.

I agree, its incredibly depressing to witness. The whole thing caught me off guard too, because more than 15 years after communisms downfall I assumed the communist mentality would be gone, but no, not even close. These countries keep out Starbucks and co. for fear of gentrification, but in doing so limit opportunity for gainful employment. After all, big business is so bad they would rather have a town infested with Mom and Pop strip clubs and bars than Jamba Juice and the Gap.
