I hate needles, but love the idea of donating blood. I've tried several times in the past, and always failed, and the last time I tried they told me they appreciated me, but told me not to even try any more because my veins are such a hard draw, I should save them and not scar them up in case I ever need to receive blood.
In fact, my veins are so bad, that just getting one tiny vial for an annual doctor checkup is usually an ordeal, and often ends up getting skipped after an attempt or two, if there is no medical reason to get my blood, only precautionary interest in checking it.
Didn't you donate marrow? Oh no, that was platelets. I'm very proud of you. Keep up the good work!
I've managed to only give up to 25 times :( I keep getting piercings, tattoos or travelling to (not that) exotic places - so there are large gaps in my donating record. In the UK - we can't give blood for a year after piercings or tattoos.
I should be able to start giving again next month, come to think of it.
