It's tough trying to make money doing what you love, regardless of the economy.

Here's an idea -- try making something that ties into weddings. People spend stupid amounts of money on weddings, and they happen every single weekend. Perhaps you could market "wedding fairies," in bride-and-groom pairs that could be put on top of cakes?

I've reciently seen one of my friends set up a fairy themed party. You might start by coming up with what rtred said. :)
