Not much time

In light of the fact that Congress finally delivered an extension of unemployment benefits to President Obama's desk, I went to JobLeaders, sat down to one of their computers, and filled out an app for extended benefits. I think.

Years ago I was signed up with Adecco (and their predecessor Adia) for the sole purpose of landing the Bugs Bunny role at the flagship Warner Brothers Studio Store...a gig that lasted 8 months before the chain fired Adia. But then Adia gave me the Michigan J. Frog role at WPIX which went on sporadically for ten years until The WB retired him as mascot before becoming The CW. I don't think there are any more temping mascot opportunities with them since then, especially in your area and elsewhere where TMO has sucked them all up and blowing off veteran fursuiters. But good luck in landing some employment.

Staffing companies can be real good for times such as this. I'm with Select Staffing. It's kind of ironic, but when I started with Xerox back in December '85 they had me come in that very evening for work as long as I squared with a staffing company down the street. It was Remedy Temp, and though Xerox has used dozens of agencies over the years and by region (that was San Diego), I found out that Select Staffing's prior name was this same Remedy Temp. So it's like I've come full circle with a fresh start (I hope, if all works out).

But yeah, they can instantly get you out there if the right thing comes along, and they're already dealing with such a high number of employers, so a lot can happen quickly. The pay is usually at least as good, sometimes better than working for that company, just no bennies.
