Okay. I know I'm probably the last person you're going to want to hear this from, but you need to stand up for yourself. YOU should be the only person in control of your bank account. ESPECIALLY if your mother is taking money from it and can't account for it. She might mean well for something, but she is setting you up for potential financial disaster and serious credit problems. That is really not cool.
Dispense money when you need to. It's okay to hand it over for bills and groceries and stuff, but it is NOT okay for her to be able to make withdrawls from your account.
...if you have a shared account I'd even advise you to close it, and open another in just your name, so that other people can't get access to it.
YOU need to take charge of this situation. Don't let it keep going like this, even if you feel guilty at first it is the right thing to do.
I love your mom, Bree. But she's being a little selfish here, and it's not fair. You gotta take the reigns.
I don't really have the option right now to "dispense" my money that way. I can't get off the mountain to cash my check because I am trapped here by virtue of the fact that the only car we have right now is one I can't drive.
And she usually doesn't disappear money like that. And even so, that actual dispension of money is only a part of the reason why I am so angry. It's more that I feel completely and totally trapped in a situation from which I, at this moment, have no hope of escaping.
Should you need us, yes, should you need us...wackyjacks20June 5 2009, 03:42:19 UTC
If you ever need to get off the mountain, remember, I'm only a hop, skip and a jump away. Also, if I ever hit the lotto, I promise to split half with you.
