Very fairytaley.

And just the right amount of realism *g*
It may be safe to say that 'happily ever after' doesn't quite fit it, but it's the best we have.

I think he's talking about anyone but himself. No need to be worried *g*

*sigh* Just lovely. I adored that story as a child.

Thank you! It's my absolute favourite fairytale (well, with the possible exception of Catskin), and it was so perfect for a HP-version.

You're right, I would never have thought of it offhand but. . .it's just lovely.

Why, thank you!

They are very similar stories, although the fairytale is missing a lot of the jealousy elements of the myth. It's a rather progressive family, in the fairytale, actually, where the daughter gets a choice, but the myth version worked better for Harry. And of course the 'animal bridegroom' theme is added in for good value. And I'll shut up on my mythology and folklore blabberings now...

Heh. Well, I left him as a bear originally, but Amanuensis pointed out that said 'Hagrid' immediately to her. Black feline-type creature was the best I could come up with.

And thank you again. A lovely rec it was too, cheered me up greatly.

Beautiful. Utterly beautiful. I love East of the Sun, West of the Moon. It's one of my favs, also (course, I love most fairy tales). While I'd never thought it'd fit HP, it does, remarkably well, as mentioned above, I believe. I was a bit surprised when I saw Snape-the-Jaguar, but it fits. A big polar bear just does -not- fit Snape.

Snape the polar bear. What an image o.0

Thank you! I think the point of which animal to make Snape gave me more stress than anything else in this story...

Heh. Fun, though *snickers at polar-bear Snape*

Can I ask who the author is of the story? I've read it before with the polar bear, but i can't remember the title or author's name (I really like the idea of a the love interest turning into an animal by day (or night). Do you know if there are any other slash -preferbly snarry- fics out there dealing with the subject?)

that's a very sweet, original and well-written story. I love the jaguar curse of Severus. :)
