A short time before my arrival here, I received, in the post, a tarot card. The Tower. I've never believed in fate, adopting the opinion fate is something that those without the determination or willingness to make a difference believe in. Fate and destiny are always awkward when it comes to actions. Why should one act, put effort into ( Read more... )

I've never put much stock in fate either - especially when someone blames their own mistakes on it. (If you do poorly on an exam, it was not "meant to be." It was not studying enough.)

I know what you mean. My father has the alacrity of ten people.

Mine is an average size, though some people (who shall remain nameless) have invented certain ways of sitting just to economize the space.

Difficult, or impossible. There is. It's called insanity.

Sitting to economise space? That seems rather detrimental. There's not a lot here that would be worth putting into apartments to save space for, and particularly not that it would require sitting in such a manner. I'd have thought they'd prefer comfort over economy, regardless?

Is it fair on the insane to group them with the rich, though?

Definitely some kind of mental.

They do tend to be fairly wasteful. I suppose that was their way of being courteous to the "commoner lifestyle," and by extension me. For the most part it was ridiculous.

Oh, right. I forgot rich people are "eccentric."

"The commoner lifestyle". ...I suppose they are, at least, trying? I think that's all that can be said for that.

I wonder whether it were a rich person who invented the word 'eccentric'. It's interesting the things a rich person can get away with simply because they have money.

I guess it's fair to say I wouldn't understand half the things they have in their houses.

Too much. It's quite the experience to be a middle class scholarship student at a place like Ouran.

Ouran? I can't say I recognise the name.

It's a prestigious academy where name counts first and money closely second. Needless to say, I don't have either.

I see. If you're there through a scholarship, you at least have intelligence, which is quite often more than can be said for thosewho don't have to work for their education.
