There are brief, fleeting glances of the ground, followed by a smart, relatively expensive looking, albeit somewhat wet, suit. The man holding the device -- when he stops fiddling with it -- is wearing a particularly perplexed expression that ( Read more... )

Oh, they're most certainly watching. I wouldn't doubt that.

[ So why is it he may as well be tripping over attorneys and detectives wherever he looks, here? It's somewhat cumbersome. ... Still, Naoya is a little hopeful this person may be of use to him; he needed to know if the demons had gotten out, or what. ] ... Tokyo, was it? Did you happen to notice anything of interest you can remember before leaving there?

Which is why I'm asking to speak to them. I presume you're not one of 'them'?

(Because all the cool kids are lawyers.) That would depend on what you define as 'interesting', I imagine. I've been told my interests aren't always the most exciting of things.

[ ... He seems amused, chuckling a bit, but decides today, he'll feign being semi-polite. It'd be worthwhile... why? He didn't know. It was for amusement, mostly, really. ] Not at all. I'm sure my clothing alone can state that I, too, happen to live in the same country, after all. How many natives here have you seen wearing traditional Asian footwear?

[ He decided, though it was hard to not lie here and there and to be careful with his words, that he would play 'honest' with Ryou. After all, how is it a lie if, in this body, he WAS Japanese...?

But at the other's answer, Naoya raises a brow. ] Ah, consider it of no importance, then. You would know what I meant. It involves the Yamanote circle, coincidentally... but it seems people here come from differing worlds, so it's quite possible there may also be alternative realities, after all.

[ He'll let you absorb that in the meantime. Kids these days, why are you all becoming lawyers? :| BACK IN HIS DAY PEOPLE DID ACTUAL WORK-- ]

I don't think I've been here long enough to accurately comment on the natives.

(He may or may not look uncomfortable at the idea of 'other worlds'. ) Mm, if you insist. (FOR REVENGE)

[Looks like this guy only knows as much as he does.] Sorry I can't be of much help, but I was told the name of the city is called Vatheon. That's all I know so far though.

Vatheon? [...] I can't say I've heard of it before.

An attorney? How interesting.

Nonetheless, I'm afraid that our official abductors have yet to make themselves known. This is a place called Vatheon, and the locals should be happy to answer your basic questions. However the only one they fail to give a proper answer for is 'How do I leave?'

An awful predicament for most of us, I'm sad to say.

Is it? That's not the most common of responses.

(Sounds a touch irritated.) That's unfortunate. (Pause.) Who might you be?

If only because we seem to be gathering quite an assortment of professionals in the law department.

[He chuckles.] You can call me Izaya. And you are?

That is curious.

(A pause, because apparently you missed the part where he introduced himself.) Ryou Naruse.

[another lawyer? man they just keep coming. has a look of vague interest on his face as he replies]

Well, the problem is that no one knows much of anything yet. It's a case I intend to crack, but so far there really are no clues as to how or why any of us are here.

A case? You're a detective?

[oh good, you picked up on that. grins] A private detective, yes. Shoutarou Hidari.

I'm mostly looking into this case out of personal interest-- it's hard not to, under these circumstances.

(polite smile in return.) Despite the circumstances, I'm sure it's a pleasure.

How many people have been brought here?

[!!! It's a defense attorney! From Tokyo! Okay, calm down Phoenix, you've noticed that there's a bunch of detectives here but gfjhsjgsh IT'S A DEFENSE ATTORNEY, DON'T FANBOY!]

... I'm Phoenix Wright... Also a defense attorney. [A pause.] I'm based in Los Angeles, actually, but right now we're stuck in a place called Vatheon.

So I've been told. (It's a little vague, but he means that he's been told they're in Vatheon rather than anything else.)

Circumstances aside, I'm sure it's a pleasure, Mr. Wright.

Likewise, Mr. Naruse. [Manners, Phoenix, remember your manners. This guy isn't making fun of you, or being snide, he's being polite. It's actually a relief.] Have you gotten yourself a bit dry yet?
