moshi, guys... is it true that angelic layer is like a sequel to chobits...or somehow related...or that chi's dad looks like a lot like the prof in angelic layer...>.> i mean CLAMP luvs the sequels to their mangas...
Me being a CLAMP junkie does come in handy!! Okay here are some connections:
1: Icchan from Angelic Layer is the dead husband of Ms. Hibiya, the manager of the apartment, and the father/ creator of Chi. I know this because in Volume 7 of Chobits they show a picture of Icchan and Ms. Hibiya together with Chi and Freya. Icchan is also explained as the creator of persocoms.
2: Kaede, the girl with the Angel Buranshe, is Minoru Kokubunji's dead sister. Yuzuki, Minoru's persocom modeled after Kaede, shows Hideki a picture of Minoru and Kaede together. It even has their names. Another significant scene, is when they show Kaede in a hospital bed in Volume 6 I believe. They have Minoru holding her hand. And they have Ohjiro, Misaki, and Sai (Angel Hirashime) with their backs turned with the suggestion of them crying.
Since Angelic Layer characters are present in Chobits and Chobits characters are present in Angelic Layer, I can only assume they were made relatively at the same time.
Although I'm not a member of this club, I thank you for reaffirming my sanity. Since finishing both the manga and anime of Chobits and the anime of Angelic Layer, I have been searching the web for a site that confirms what I had thought about Icchan (who Ms Hibiya refers to by name in the manga, *and* says he created Angelic Layer...) and Kaede, and the hospital scene (poor Sai must be a wreck after losing her sister and kaede). One site I went to even went so far as to say that Chobits and Angelic Layer could in no way be related because they were "not by the same people"...insanity.
According to the copywright dates on the anime and manga, and some website's list of Clamp's work in chonological order, Chobits was published the year after Angelic Layer.
