I really don't envision 7 years of repressed feelings being suddenly let out and everything being "OK" with Misaki after a drink at a cafe and an angel battle. I really feel that the moment she was confronted by her mother, the entire anime should have turned angsty. In real life, the recipient of such selfish acts would have been angry, hurt, and seriously in need of a shrink.

As a side note, no angel ever exploded or lost a body part. Hikaru should have ripped Athena's head off and through it out of the layer. [Perhaps my opinion is influenced a bit by the last layer's take-offs from Revolutionary Girl Utena (roses)and Fist of the North Star(walking out of wall of fire).]

As for the wrong person winning, I would have liked to see Ms. Sai win, but unfortunately such a result did not fit the theme of the rest of the anime in my opinion.

YAY someone replied. i was begining to feel abit doubtful that anyone did. i loves ms. sai too. didn't realise that was how it was written!
I really felt that misaki shouldn't have won. i know it probably was the story behind angelic layer but a rookie with no prior experience against one of the founding experimenters. it just seemed complete wrong to me...
anyhow,
thanks for replying.
cheers!

You should never watch anime that came from Japan in English... the voice actors have nothing on the original Japan ones. Besides... Misaki and Misakichi sound so cute when they say it in Japanese. Subtitles are nice too because then you know you aren't missing anything they say.

well. it was obvious who was going to be the winner.. i think it was nice.. but... to be true... i find it quite unbelievable how a rookie can become a champion just like that.
sorry if i ruined someone's fantasy

First off, I'll just say I prefer the anime more than the manga even though the manga is more realistic (don't want to ruin the manga for people who haven't read it). I think Misaki winning was expected and I think it was believable. She learned so much from previous battles. She used that knowledge against her mother. I felt that the series was rushed at the end though. Anyone agree?
