Ok, so I actually saw POA

It was the Saturday after it just came out. My dad and step mom got into my car (with two things of Oreos, while my Step-brother, his wife, and their son got into their car. And then it was off to the Drive In. I guess it's sorta weird that we still have a drive in, but its good at the same time. I mean, my nephew is 2 and a half, we are NOT ( Read more... )

I can tell you're yet another true fan of Harry Potter. Both Dustin and I posted long rants about the shortcomings of this movie, too.
I think this movie might have strayed a bit too far from the book, possibly further than the other HP movies. But, it looked awesome. They probably focused too much on looks and not enough on accuracy. I had to explain to Jenni what the deal was with the stag. Seeing as they didn't explain the Marauder's Map in the movie, either, I couldn't possibly explain it in less than 2 minutes. They really needed to explain more in this movie. I hope they make an extended DVD version with scenes that explain some things. I'm sure people wouldn't mind an extra hour to this beautiful-yet-lacking-in-story movie.
As for Goblet of Fire, which makes for an EXCELLENT movie title, they'd BETTER make it at least 3 hours, or in two parts. I haven't read Goblet yet(I'm re-reading Stone as a review before going further right now), but I've heard things and seen how thick my copy is.

They are planning on releasing a directors cut of POA, and I hope that it has all the little things that I missed. And we all hope for a three hour or a two part Goblet. The first two books had a pretty good balance of lightheartedness and seriousness, but were still very much written for children. POA started the trend to the darkerside, but lost a lot of the lightheartedness. Goblet tends to make Hermione and Ron into even realer people, as well as explaining a lot of other smaller things. It manages the balance between lightheartedness and seriousness, and if its going to be the same director, you can guess which is going to end up being cut.

Well, you'll have to hope for a three-hour Goblet, as it has been confirmed that they will be releasing it as one movie. Luckily, they're not going with Cuaron again, so it shouldn't be a horribly dark version of a story that shouldn't be so dark. The new director is Mike Newell (I know nothing of his work), but Cuaron convinced him not to make it a two-parter, so even though he's leaving he's STILL KILLING US

You also noticed even more things than I did (as I somehow figured you would)... like the fact that Harry was practicing magic in his bedroom. I know they didn't explain MWPP, but evidently the plan is to reveal this little tidbit in Goblet, which is retarded, but as long as we find out SOMEHOW. And you're right... this movie was about 15 minutes shorter than the first two were.

Uhh, Garrett, you do realize that Rini is the REASON both you and I are fans, right? If she hadn't pestered me into reading that lone fanfic, I never would have gone anywhere near Hogwarts.

*snickers* And here I thought it was my sending of insanely funny fanfiction links that started it. After all, I had to explain who Professor Snape was.
