Piece of advice, guys: never suddenly decide that you need to move within a month. And by "suddenly" I mean "without previously having made necessary actions including putting your current house on the market, contacting various realtors, and making sure that all housemates actually agree on what the hell they even want in said new home". Crazy ( Read more... )

Isn't in strange, using LJ for its intended purpose? B| /still getting used to it

And jeez, that does sound crazy. At least you've got a place to go to, yah?

Ahaha, half of the time I forget that LJRP is a byproduct of regular LJ and not the other way around. :I

And we don't yet, actually. At least nothing concrete. The only house our whole family likes is already pending - and if that doesn't fall through then every house we've seen so far have been mostly fixer-uppers or concentrated in...less than nice neighborhoods.

We can't expect much else with this rush job of ours, though. I'm sure we'll find a compromise.

/nods. Is there a reason you guys need to move so quickly? Since it really sounds like a rushed, stressful time to deal with.

Cutting down on commute time for everybody. My father's office was abruptly closed down and he's been relocated to a new one; from the house we're in, it's a drive of over two hours there and back. The classes I'll be attending are also an hour out of town and have changed in the upcoming semester to start very early in the day.

This makes mornings horrible for my dad and I'll be in pretty much the same situation come July. But if we move to our chosen town, it'll cut my dad's time down to about an hour and mine to twenty and save our wallets from the Gas Grinch. Plus, the houses there are selling low - most for under 100k.

That voice problem you have with Issun? I have the exact same thing with Oswald. Same interchanging of those words. It seems to be completely random when he does it, so I try to mediate a little bit and have him speak neater depending on who he's talking to and what they're talking about. I don't know if that's helpful advice or not, but... Yeah.

Believe it or not, that does help |D And I think you've got the right idea about managing these weird speech patterns. In Issun's case, for example, I've noticed that his vocabulary tends to start going all crazy when he's more worked up or annoyed...but of course that's not a 100% accurate system. Idk, maybe Oswald is the same way? Making sure to mediate between word choices does seem to be the best idea either way :|a

Yeah, that's what I figured with Oswald, too. So it depends on context for the most part, and the rest of it is just a lucky guess. XD

Gods, I need to replay Okami...

Uh, but based on Issun's speech patterns, I think Meowzy has the right solution. Issun's speech pattern is HARD to get down and iron out. He, as well as Waka, have some of the screwiest speech patterns of all the characters in game. But I agree that he should probably lessen the slang in lieu of serious matters/conversations. Probably when he's trying to show off, he can use the slang?

I'll try asking one of my friends who plays a pretty good Issun for tips, too, if that helps?

Yeah, I think that's the right general stance to take because it seems like there are just no set guidelines. While he does often use the slang when he's feeling upbeat, excited, talking to someone he's comfortable with, etc...he also dots it here and there in his otherwise serious conversations, too. Less often, but frequent enough to notice.

If it's not too much trouble for either of you, I'd love some tips! Getting Issun's screwy dialogue down is proving to be the greatest challenge so far.

ffff you say that like babbling is a bad thing |D But no, this helps a lot! You're right, his dialogue patters between formal and informal in almost every situation, even when he IS speaking about a serious matter (i.e.: "What are ya lookin' at, furball? The door's open, ain't it? Do you have the guts to go on through it? If you turn back now after all I've been through, I swear I'll..." upon opening the Spirit Gate). Overall it seems to me like the most important thing to do is strike a balance without actually worrying about what that balance is, and...idk what am I talking about

But thank you for the advice, really! Issuns are hard little buggers to come by in LJRP, so I might just be taking you up on that offer 8D;
