The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien

Read the book for Children's Literature class at Delta.  Glad I read it so I can recommend it to some of my students that would probably like it.  Including the child of the mother with blinders on that will probably think that it's completely sending those of us who read it to hell.  Wait, I digress.  I liked the growth of ( Read more... )

How did you like The Hobbit? I've started reading it a couple of times, but never really got into it. Now I've swiped the audio version from the library, hoping that will be better. I just put it on my ipod (don't tell anyone), but am still hesitant about giving it another go.

And I think I might have actually gasped when I saw you hadn't read To Kill a Mockingbird before now. Scandalous.

Once forced to read it, I kinda liked it. Bilbo, actually, reminds me of you a bit...not the hairy feet, obviously, but you are a fan of your creature comforts. So am I. :) I guess I'm a bit hobbit-like, too.

And I know...GHS must have been one of the only schools that never taught it, at least in my classes! I am glad this forced me, I get what the hype is about and I think my freshmen are liking it!
