So W is better today. He had a 102 temp when going to sleep but tylenol seemed to cover him okay for the rest of the night. We're going to begin something new with him, sign language. He gets really frustrated when he can't get us to understand what he wants, or when he wants to move and can't. I've heard success with several people after a few ( Read more... )

"My kiddo is a master of making anything fit in his mouth" I'm sorry advice that I thought was good turned out to be a choking hazzard. Random thought, keep that boy away from coins if he gets a hold of one and pray it does go down smooth, he could be in for a rude awakening! The signing sounds really cool. I can't wait to see how much success you all have at it. I lend my support to the idea of you and C. taking a personal vacation, but I know it will not likely happen. As you said its W's first Christmas and that is an important landmark as far as grandparents are concerned, so they will all want to be a part of that, as for the spoiling and the going broke on gifts, like you implied, its the reason for the season that is important and its your choice/responsibility to dictate how things are going to happen, so give your family an earfull, if they want to see him as bad as they will claim they do then they will have to live on your terms on this issue, or you just take your son and go elsewhere, just my 2 cents. I have a good friend who started Signing with his baby about the same time as you are, and it worked really well. Not only was it easier for him to communicate, but it taught him the meaning of the words better, and it was great for babysitters and day care providers. It's a really great idea, in my opinion.

As for vacations, Disney would be fun for you guys, even though little dude wouldn't be old enough to remember. Lake Tahoe is a beautiful getaway, with horseback riding and hiking, etc. I could write a book about hawaii...
