Well, despite the loads of workdramaz!! surrounding it, my birthday was highly fun. >w<
I started out the day going to the Dragon Boat Festival (for the second time ~_~ ). It was so fun, I'm glad I went! I'll have to go next year, now. :>
The first day (day before my birthday), we mainly browsed the marketplace booths. I got a vintage kimono for $25! XD It's kind of masculine, but neat all the same... I might try and save up for a nice one someday. :> I need to take pictures of it, and Paul's, but... we also got to see "the Candy Man" sculpting figures out of melted sugar and putting on a great performance. I do have a couple pictures of that:
Paul got selected to help him out-- he made a very valliant attempt at sculpting an eagle. XD;
His admittedly ended up looking more like a slightly pitiful lump, but the Candy Man gave us his as well! It was really cool, but ended up wilting from the unusual humidity we've had lately and I didn't get a picture of it. ;_; We had it stuck into our lucky bamboo, too.
The message of his performance: Peace on Earth. <3
Now then, onto my actual birthday~! :D I had really wanted to catch the Chinese ribbon dancing that I saw in the pamphlet, but we ended up being a little late and only caught the tail end of the traditional dances. They were still awesome~!
Aww, baskets! XD (Ophelia needs that outfit..)
Umbrellas! XD
Sorry for the bad pictures-- I was in the back, and there was a dragon beard in my way (the big pink fuzzy thing) >.<
Some Laosian garb XD
Craptastic picture of Paul in his kimono ;)
And the boats! :D One was painted like a cow and said "mooooooo" on the side... heeheehee.
We proceeded from there down to the Ren Faire, on the last day, to say goodbye to it. XD I didn't dress up this time, because my friends (other than Paul) weren't dressing up, and I'm too eager for a new costume to wear my old one *again*... but it was fun to go and look at everything one last time. <3 It's like my summertime Christmas-- I look forward to Christmas or Ren Faire, depending on the time of year ;) So, although there aren't many pictures this time, I did get some snapshots of a particular fairy that I'm in love with... XD Glad I captured her on film, since I failed in capturing her in a bottle to take home. <3
She's SO FREAKING CUTE. XDXD
Um. Yeah. That was probably the worst random photo post ever, but there it is. ~_~ I promise I'll try to do better in the future, everyone! -_-
