Alexander McQueen
Gilt recently had a sale on Alexander McQueen items, and I absolutely went nuts over it. There's so many utterly beautiful pieces.

I liked this, because I think it's a beautiful color, and I so seldom see that kind of color blocking in menswear.
When I was looking at items, I initially skimmed over this one:
Later on, when I zoomed in on it, I noticed the very thin horizontal lines that added a whole new side to it.
Pants version.

I recall hearing that McQueen had been inspired by a scuba diving trip he took. These remind me very much of a shark.
SHOES. I love the color on these, and if you look close you can see that the bottoms are a bright red.

Such a beautiful color. Sadly, it's just a shade too small for me.
These I like because they remind me of some kind of oxford/monk-strap lovechild.
Now let's peek at some of the more quirky stuff.
If I had the physique for it, I'd totally try to wear this. I like how ballsy it seems, while still being such a gentle color..

Let's check out women's wear! Here's a version of that horizontal striping.

Never have I so wanted to use the gaydiom of "Fierce."

I ended up getting a few items myself. I've always been a fan of coats, and white/cream colors. This was right up my alley.
The darker areas aren't shadows, they're part of the coat.

And to match slightly, one of the ties. I love the color combination.
It's such a shame that McQueen killed himself. I'm going to terribly miss gushing over this stuff with Emily, just reveling in the colors, lines, and silhouettes he used. His work (even when not to my taste) was always interesting.

Fabulous boots, yes? No.
That's Aimee Mullins. Athlete who is missing both of her legs. McQueen wanted her to walk in his show, so he made her a pair of wooden prosthetic legs.
