I always kind of wished my school had IB. We had AP though, so I managed to walk away with a few AP college credits.
Also, not old enough for your own grownup checking account? I got mine when I was 18. And I know people who had jobs in high school who had them when they were 16. Maybe it's a state thing, though? IDK. ..also, monthly service fees? There are banks that charge those? :O
As much stress as it caused me, I think the program is well worth the effort that you put into it, if more for the experience than actual college credits and such.
I haven't turned 18 yet! Wamu/Chase doesn't let me get one till I turn 18 this October. And service fees is basically 'if you don't use your card at all this whole month, we charge six bucks'. Which kinda sucks, admittedly, but because of the college account thing I don't have to worry about it. The only difference is I don't get free checks and money orders which, less face it, I'm not gonna be hurting for XD But I know you can basically get a college/high school account as early as 14, and these are the only differences.
Banks are silly, and the bigger banks are the silliest! I have two accounts, one at a credit union and one at a state bank, and neither of them charge me a thing! I love them both. Admittedly, I love the credit union more, because credit unions are awesome, but I use the bank more just because that's where my checks are direct deposited.
The only AP I actually did was English, and because of the Honor's program I ended up not using it to opt out of anything in the end. Oh, irony.
I can see that! But both parents already have accounts with Chase, and it's where I used to have my ATM card, so it was much easier to just get an account there.
It....is and isn't. It looks really good on resume, and if I wanted to study overseas , it proves I'm qualified. However, due to like have a billion factors, I'm not taking offered credits/not being offered the credits I need, so it's not saving me any time in college. Though thank you~
Local banks are nice! The problem is that I can't have one while away from home, since, then parents would have no way to transfer me money.
