"I'm scared," she whimpered as the wind rattled the windows. "I hate storms."
Uchiha Sasuke looked amused. He gave her a long look and stopped himself from laughing out loud. She was curled up into a ball with a blanket thrown over her body. Her green eyes were wide with terror.
She was twenty-three and she looked about ten.
"You're not afraid of wars, tournaments, bloody wounds and rats but you're afraid of a storm." Sasuke said coolly. He sat down beside her on their bed.
"Storms are a different thing!" Uchiha Sakura argued "I can fight those things but not a storm."
He stuck a tongue out at him.
Without warning, he lifted the blanket from her body. She shrieked and covered her ears when thunder rolled across the sky. He pulled her to him and laid the blanket over them both. She pulled it up further until it covered their heads and they were under a makeshift tent.
She sighed and laid her head across his chest. He wrapped his arms around her without thinking.
"Storms are natural phenomenons," he said quietly. "You'd better get used to them. They're not scary at all."
"I feel like I'm going to die whenever there's lightning and thunder," Sakura shuddered "I want to hide whenever I hear the wind rattling the windows. The sound of the wind during a storm is like a ghost that's screaming."
Sasuke understood this. She was brave but she was human. She had her limitations. His wife was a strong woman but she was entitled to her own fears. He stroked her hair tenderly.
"You'll be safe here," he said quietly "with me."
