If I was you I'd completely reinstall XP, install SP2, stop using IE - and use Firefox instead. Then, you should be ok.

Of course, if you really wanted to stop all this shit then you'd use Linux. MS is for girls. Oh hang on... errr ...

I had some really nasty adware/spyware recently and after trying Adaware Pro, Spybot and Hijack This, the ONLY thing that got rid of it was the Microsoft Anti-Spyware Tool. Don't worry about the 'genuine Windows check - you can skip it and download it anyway.
