Ho, Ho, Ho, And All That!
Okay, so I was freakin' over some RL stuff before, but I'm cool now. I figured this is a good time to do this post.
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My Wishlist
As much as I would love to ask for fics, people don't write them for me anymore. I'm not into the same fandoms as most people or the fics they try to write for me are just too hard for them to finish. So, I'm not asking for fics, as much as I love them... not asking.
So here's what I'll ask for:
1. LJ Headers-- I have this great rotating banner now. I have about six banners that represent a small portion of my fannish lurve. I would like banners of:
24-- Anything sexy of Jack Bauer
Stargate SG-1-- More importantly, the ships of SG-1/Atlantis... Specifically, Prometheus, Odyssey and Daedalus. I love those.
Tim McGraw-- I could eat him with a spoon.
Charlize Theron-- She's my girl.
Peyton Manning-- I love the big goofball!
National Geographic Channel-Specifically Seconds from Disaster. I LOVE that show!
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou-I have an unnatural lurve of this movie!
2. Icons-I love them. Pretty much anything Daniel, The 4400, Jack O'Neill, Jack Bauer. I'm not picky!
3. Anything Spongebob. I love him sooooooo much!
4. Indianapolis Colts stuff. I'm not picky. I love the Indianapolis Colts, I love Peyton Manning.
5. Anything from my Amazon Wish List.
6. Christmas Cards!!!!!!! I LOVE getting those.
7. Fannish Christmas Cards. (Last Christmas I was disappointed to not receive my fannish Christmas Card.) So if you'd like to send me a Christmas Card from Daniel Jackson, John Crichton, Jack O'Neill, Jack Bauer, Tom Baldwin, Nick Boyle, TC McQueen, Dr. Burke, you name it! What this is… You would send me a Christmas card from one of those people. Hee!
8. Dog stuff-What I mean by this is I love dogs. My favorite kinds are Rottweiller, Welsh Corgi, and Yorkshire Terrier. Anything to do with a dog, I love!
9. Gift Certificate to WalMart-Seriously, this is my favorite place to shop. I go every Saturday and spend more money than I should. So feeding the habit is always good!
10. This is the BIG wish-
A new radio for my car. My car is 10 yrs old. The radio works intermittently and it has a cassette player and not a CD player. So, I would love to get a car radio with a CD player! *g*
