You're review wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting, so maybe there's a glimmer of hope. I'm glad you finally got a copy of the cd. I'm still looking for one. I tried Best Buy and Target but came up empty handed, but I'm patient so I'll just try again later.
Yeah, I'm glad I didn't have to say I hated everything. It sounds much better on a stereo than a laptop! :-) Some of it is quite good, just not all of it. And in their defense, it's very hard to make an *entire* album of winners I'm sure.
It's definately worth the money. I was afraid I wouldn't get the DVD version, that's why I bought it now instead of waiting for Christmas. Our Best Buy had quite a few copies, but they were in a weird spot...strange. I'm glad we ultimately found them.
I'm glad to see you do a song by song balanced review of the whole CD......I am always put off by people who either put down a CD or give it a blanket thumbs up with very little to back up their statement.....sure, everyone is entiteled to their own opinion, but I like to know *why* someone likes or dislikes an album! That said, I have been mulling over my thoughts of the album track by track and will be posting a review of my own this evening, more so than just "it rocks"......because I certainly have positive and negative feelings on the matter!
Did you get the DVD too? If you posted that you did, I apologize, I may have missed it.......I really enjoyed watching it, I always enjoy seeing the music making process and it seems they had fun doing this.
I did get the deluxe version, but haven't had a chance to watch the DVD yet. Hopefully that'll happen tonight. I enjoy "behind the scenes" stuff too.
Glad you liked my review. :-) I kinda thought I'd have a differing opinion on it once I had a chance to give it a "good" listen. It's all right, just not uber fantastic.
Eh, he loves to tell me that when you buy quality stuff, that it rarely (if ever) needs to be replaced, and he always uses that stereo as an example. The only thing that's different now is the addition of a turntable shortly after we got married. One of the speakers acts kind of strange once in a while, but other than that it still works great.
If I could mix some tracks on this one with some tracks from Astronaut, I think I'd have the perfect modern DD album. You're right, though... a lot of the stuff is throw-away.
