Mo--[He stops, his voice cracking. He's not sure if it's okay to call her Mom here instead of Mary. He doesn't know if he has to act like he doesn't know who she is. There's a rush of emotion, of relief, of love and then the wall he's been hiding everything behind since Sam left starts cracking. It doesn't take long for it break, seconds even. When he speaks again, his voice is cracked, full of pain and nerves and love, all tempered with so much awe because she's here.]

Mom, I'm here. Sam's--Sam's not right now but I'm here.

[That sounds nothing like her son. Especially considering that her son is only four and not some grown man. For all she knows this could be a trick of the yellow-eyed demon and yet...the emotions in his voice sound rather heartbreaking and his simple way of comforting her with words do make her think of Dean - of when he comforts her during a fight with John.

Her voice is cautious but hopeful.]

Listen, time basically freezes at the point you were taken from so there's not much you need to worry about. The Dean you remember will be still be there when you return.
