First Impressions

Laura was surprised when the marine allowed her entry into the admiral’s quarters.  She would never have let anyone she didn’t know roam free in her personal space.

The polite thing to do would be to stare at the painting above the couch, but his bookshelves called to her.  It was a siren’s song she couldn’t ignore.

Works for me, this is a fabulous scene!! I loved it all, but my favourite line and one that struck me was the "deeply generous" one. I hadn't thought of it that way before and I just love that Laura had that thought about Bill at this early point. It's marvelous how these little scenes move their relationship along bit by bit. Great work!!

WEll, I figured he was, I mean, I don't think that at that time he thought about her as more than 'that school teacher' though, of course... But back on track! to offer her the book just like that said something about the kind of person he is, doesn't it? And isn't it great that their first "real" conversation was about books? It trully was the foundation of who they were. I love it! And thank you!!!! :D

Up
