Oh-oh-oh...the sweetest thing.

Blue-eyed boy and this brown-eyed girl
Oh oh oh, the sweetest thing

My aunt's friend who was on the trip with us told us this story. It really is THE sweetest thing: So her daughter just graduated from undergrad (at the age of 21--impressiva! but not the point) and her boyfriend decided it was time to put a ring on that finger he's wrapped around. BUT he couldn't ask her father (as any boy should do) because he'd died several years ago. SO he took her mother out to lunch. And he asked her mother if it would be okay to ask the daughter. So sweet.

Okay, that song was in my head, and it reminded me of that story.

Spent the past few days in Seaside with my mom, aunt, and my aunt's friend. It was fun. Beached, shopped, dined, girlie-movied...and my no-drinks-for-me-I'm-the-preacher's-wife aunt made (and drank!) some fabulous fruity bebedas alcoholicas. It was so funny, because she insisted we get some rum. And her friend came down from South Carolina and brought delicious peaches, so we added those in. And some peach/mango sherbet that was amazing. The whole situation was quite funny to me, but it was fun.

Watched: Shall We Dance--the over-45 crowd really thought Richard Gere was quite "sexy," though he just doesn't do it for me. But the movie was cute. It was so funny because Jennifer Lopez is in it, and at the end of the movie, one of the over-45 crowd asked, "Who is that girl?" I answered, "Jennifer Lopez." Them, "Hmm, I've never heard of her, is she in anything else?" Me, "Yeah, lots of CDs and divorce papers." It was so crazy that they'd never heard of her. Hmm. Plus for them.
Failure to Launch--the first time I've ever seen SJ Parker as pretty. She's just been so horse-y looking, but she really looked pretty in this movie. PS: She's married to Ferris Bueller in real life, I think. Crazy. Cute movie. I recommend it to girls only. Owen Wilson--he's cute, and he has my (broken) nose.

On the movie note, I saw Devil Wears Prada again today. This time with my grandmother. Better the second time than the first time. Still not the best in my opinion, but better.

Caleb came down last weekend--on the way home from Oxford, I was just chatting with him, and he mentioned having the weekend off. Twenty minutes later he was en route to the Coast. That was really a surprise and lots of fun. I hadn't seen the kid in 3+ months, so I was really happy to see him (would've been anyhow, but yeah). And I'll see him again in less than a week. Hooray!!

PS: As much as I fuss about the movie not being good, I REALLY want the soundtrack to The Devil Wears Prada. I've always been a soundtrack kid, and this one is really good. See it here. However, the first song (when the girls are getting ready and when Ann Hathaway's character first enters the office building--KT Tunstall's Suddenly I See), which I really liked, is not on the soundtrack. Major bummer. However, it's here: http://www.contactmusic.com/new/home.nsf/webpages/kttunstallx30x08x05 . For free. For now.
