Can you guys tell me what kind of insurance you guys have and what you pay for insurance? I need to know how much is reasonable considering that I'll be getting my license next week.
well, my car is considered a sports car, so i think it's like 180/mo. My 2001 and 2002 GTI's were both only about 140/month MAX... When i drove my neon it was about 120 i think... 80/month when i was on my parent's insurance. My husband's '04 Impreza's insurance is less than the insurance on my '93 Corrado... it's a bitch.
yeah. that sounds about right but I found some companies online that is going to charge me only 267 for 6 months. is this correct? or is it a scam? Esp being a newbie driver and all... Geico is about 500+ bucks and progressive is 600+ bucks!
thanks for letting me know the numbers so I have something to compare it with.
Most insurance is based on several factors. Age of driver, driving experience, type of car, type of coverage, where you live and how far you drive regularly.
There are some places that offer cheaper insurance, the downside is that you won't know how good your coverage is until you have an accident. A lot of there companies have lots of exceptions.
State Farm, Allstate, Farmers -- all of these are reputable and should treat you okay.
Shop around and try to find the best deal for you.

as u know, I'm a newbie driver so, I dont know if I should try this weird company called "Western United Horizon." I mean, its very cheap! And I'd be happy with something cheap until I get a decent job...
If you haven't heard of them before, I'd stay far away. It is most likely a rip off.
I know that both Geico and Progressive are very reputable companies so you won't go wrong going with them. $5-600 seems like a lot, but if something happens, it will be worth it. If you need to go with the El-Cheapo insurance, do it only as long as you have to and then move up to a better company.
As you gain more experience (and get older) the rates will drop, espescially if you drive safely and avoid tickets. Just don't try and 'show off' for friends, okay? ^^ I think we'd all like you to stick around for a while.
I just wanted to say thank you for all the advice you had given me and for taking the time to read my entries. It makes me feel better knowing that someone out there really cares and gives really good advice. I really value you as a friend (although I've never met you before). Thanks
