Larf larf larf. I have full-time employment. What a laugh.
I have almost finished my first week on the floor at SCCI. Collections can be a bitch sometimes, but it's usually pretty easy. I get some frustrating calls, but when I actually get a payment it's (almost) worth it.
I don't like how luck-based the whole thing is, though. Whether or not you get a payment is based 90% on who you connect to. The last 10% is your negotiating skills, but when you're constantly dealing with people who simply do not have the money, negotiations won't get you anywhere.
Also, Privacy Managers are really fucking annoying. If you have to have one, get one that doesn't play shitty music.
Oh yeah, another thing that bugs me is how offended people get when they're told they're in collections. Most of them ALREADY KNOW they haven't paid their bill. Did these fuckers think they were gonna get free service? Assholes. No one takes any responsibility for their shit anymore. And surprise, surprise, all of these people are American.
I had a horrible call today. It was 45 minutes long with the same person. He used so much gangsta slang it was painful. He thought he was really fucking clever, even though he made me explain his charges 6 times over. Then, he acted all proud that he was behind on his bills and getting deeper and deeper in debt. It was appalling. Obviously, I didn't get a payment from that fucking slacker, and I could have spent my time taking calls from paying customers. Fuck. I only collection $472.42 tonight. I would have done so much better if the dialers hadn't emptied out an hour before last call. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
My friends smoke too much pot. They keep asking me to do it during the work week, and I'm like "WTF, no, piss off." I find it irritating that one of my friends in particular is constantly asking me when he does shit-all all day.
