The point about finding financial talent outside of mainstream financial areas is very valid, however. A good financial advisor or representative truly cares about their client and will always put the client's needs above their own. A financial advisor is truly a "people person" with an ability to understand other people's current situations, empathize with their financial frustrations, help people formulate their goals, and motivate them to change their financial habits for a long-term benefit. A lot of education goes into working with your clients too. Financial details can be taught. Empathy and people skills cannot.

I don't think it's a profession I would recommend at this stage in your family's life anyway. It's very difficult to make any money the first two or three years. The first year I only cleared five grand. It's brutal when you have kids, it really is.
