I first learned this back in the summer/fall of 1990 as a young Private. I remember the power of saying these words then, when we thundered them across the GA swamps in unison at our Drill Sergeant's direction. We felt indestructible, and that we would gladly die defending every word of the creed. 18 years later I am sitting at Camp Ripley going

I have the acid ball in my throat as well now, thanks man! I read over this four times. I am thinking seriously right now about what I don't know (history wise) and I feel a sense of shame. You have inspired me to learn as much as I can about OUR history....and I suspect that the ball in my throat will grow and grow. That's a good thing.
