[Kanji waves a little at the bird pokemon, while Marilyn very nearly falls off his shoulder waving wildly at the pokemon on the other side of the screen.]

The little red computer thing said she's a Pichu. Like... baby Pikachu or somethin'.

From the... "mom" comment, yes. It should take you about three days to get to Cherrygrove and then another week to Violet, where I currently am.

Don't rush yourself, Kanji-kun. Yosuke-senpai was certain it wouldn't take as long and somehow he managed to get so badly lost that it took him twelve days to get to Cherrygrove.

Rest yourself and your partner as much as you need. I would rather see you safe and wait a little longer than worry about you suffering from exhaustion or hunger.

The path does meander some, but in terms of points on the compass, yes the paths are relatively straight. I still can't fathom how he managed it.

[Marilyn, meanwhile, is 'chuuuu'ing wildly at the pokegear, trying to get the Natu's attention. She's far more friendly with strangers than her trainer, it seems.]

Thank you. I'm sure Watson will be very happy once his hat fits. He is very fond of it but it falls over his eyes so often.

[And Kanji gets a big grateful smile from Naoto too.]

[Marilyn giggles and smiles brightly. She rattles something off in pokemon language, complete with wild arm motions. The gist of it is an introduction of herself and her trainer.]
