Which American accent do you have? Northern You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for.

My hunch is that the "roof" moved me from "Midwest" to "Neutral." I pronounce it the way way Rudy Lewis sings it in "Up On the Roof." If I weren't such a lover of that record, I might pronounce it so it rhymed with "woof."

I'm thinking maybe you're neutral because you moved around so much--the Ohio/California blend.
Maybe I'm Northern because I'm Swedish (we sound like we're neutral, but we're secretly not).
