in anticipation of the arrival of my new 3ds game,
animal crossing: new leaf on friday(?), i've been checking out
youtube vids and various links via google. everything i've seen and read thus far promises the game will be very easy going, fun, wonderfully de-stressing, distracting and apparently incredibly addictive.
seems right up my alley as the past few weeks/days have been "urgh" for reasons of this and that and the other.
thanks to handy
face,
map and
assorted other guides,
forums and
such, i have a good idea of how to start the game in good order. i tend to wait a few months to a year before purchasing games so although everyone and their mom seem to have already been hooked on the game, i'm only beginning to understand just why it is incredibly popular among the nintendo gaming set. i was actually checking out the new pokemon
x and
y game prices because i was considering buying it. never played or had a pokemon game, but the newest one is said to be better for those not so very familiar with the game due to various improvements in game mechanics. (incidentally, via 'net wandering i heard that the X version of pokemon x and y have more "legendary creatures" potential, so if that sort of thing is a positive for one's gaming experience, X is the one to purchase.) i've also never played any of the animal crossing games, but again through 'net chatter it seems this version improves on past versions and is a good starter game.
i've decided to name my little town "Queequeg" because "Melville" seemed too obvious. i was considering "Themyscira" for awhile, but i think something more book/lit related would be better off in the long run. i love wonder woman mythos as much as the next fanatic and all, but... and i believe that town names only allow for 8 characters so there's that, of course.
my LJ posting is rather erratic anyway, but there are periods when i post more often than not. if i do disappear for stretches from now on, more than likely, i'll be playing animal crossing: new leaf. :)
