acnl: day 20(ish)? - now with pictures

it's about day 20 in queequeg and i've mainly been fishing on the island to earn bell$ for the various town projects.
it's fairly easy once you figure out to rely more on your hearing than visually seeing the fish bite on the line. when a fish bites, you hear a distinctive "plonk !" sound and that's when you hit the "A" button to reel in your catch. i've tried it without looking at the screen and it works without looking at the screen and only listening for the "plonk !" noise.
your character actually tans whether on the island or not. i'm trying to tan a bit and when it gets to the color i want, i'm going to put on some sort of headgear. tanning is supposed to be temporary from what i've been reading so we'll see if that's true or not as the time rolls along.
i bought a wet suit at the island when it became available and i've been swimming and diving for stuff in the sea around queequeg. when you catch a scallop, a sea otter named pascal shows up.
he'll ask for your scallop and when you give it to him, he leaves you "pirate" related stuff in exchange.
then he lays some truth on ya, man.
righteous. totally. he looks like cheech marin, doesn't he? lol. btw, i was swimming in my knight helmet if you're wondering what's up with the headgear.
club lol recently opened and i went to check it out the first night.
that's me in my jeans and fish tee on the left. astrid the kangaroo is shakin' her groove thang on the right. dj k.k. does his thing m-f and saturday is acoustic night. when saturday night rolls around, i'll take some pics of that event.

i'm trying to collect all the mushroom themed furniture to get better "happy homes" points. in the beginning of the game (when i had less stuff), i actually hit a high enough point score to earn a "happy homes" pennant (left on wall). the points have gone down since then. lol. on the far right is a chinese lantern - a gift from gulliver the travelling gull/toucan for giving the correct answer to his hints for his next destination. he mails it to you the next day. next to it is the pirate armor from pascal in exchange for a scallop.
a shot of the stuff i've stuffed in the room. some things i bought and some were given to me by my various animal neighbors. the vintage telescope is from pascal, again in exchange for a scallop. hans gave me the djembe drum and molly gave me the taiko drum. the mama panda is from wishy the star. during meteor showers, you hit the "A" button when a star is falling and if you hit it at the right moment, it sparkles and wishy will mail you a present the next day. the yellow mama bear is from hugh. the tea vase is from tutu. i bought the violin at timmy and tommy's. the triforce and ? block were from fortune cookies from timmy and tommy's. hans also gave me the exotic bench.
even more stuff. yes, that's a mushroom shaped tv. yes, it works. there's even a tv schedule.

i'm mainly biding my time and collecting enough bill$ until blathers asks for the roost cafe to open. should be any day now and i've got the spot marked out where i'm placing the building. the police station is now open. hans asked for it (yay!) and i chose the modern police station and it's manned by copper.
